In the automotive world, trends come and go. Things that were once incredibly popular have died off, while new fads are popping up all the time. Something that has become incredibly popular in the last five years is the “burble” tune. In most modern cars, when you decelerate with engine braking, the air/fuel ratios generally lean out. They lean out for a variety of reasons, but none-the-less, most cars lean out the air/fuel ratios while decelerating. By adding some fuel while decelerating, though, you end up with a plethora of pops, bangs, and burbles which make the car sound pretty wild. The popularity of the burble tune has swept across tuner cars such as Ford STs, Subaru WRX/STI, and many others. VR Tuned is one of the biggest names in the McLaren tuning market, so when our customers began asking for burble tunes, we answered. The sound and intensity of the crackles, pops, and burbles greatly depends on the exhaust setup, but it sounds pretty cool none-the-less. Before you ask, no, there are not any performance benefits to a burble tune, it’s purely for the sound while decelerating. Just recently, a customer of our installed this tune on their 570s and sent us some videos showing off how it sounds. As expected, it has a unique sound on deceleration which gives it somewhat of a race car sound. Check out the video below to see how it sounds for yourself!
