Our friends at GT Tuning in Mexico (now Vivid Racing Mexico) have just boosted up the brand new BMW M2 with the help of a VR Tuned ECU Tuning Box Kit.  The plug and play Tuning Box Kit (part number VRT-121170-1) is an easy install for the N55 3.0L engine.  The sensors used include a manifold pressure, boost pressure, and camshaft sensor to help gain over 50 horsepower from stock.  The tuning box kits use a dial behind the back cover to adjust for different octane.  So the lower the number, the lower the octane is used.  We don’t recommend running anything less than 91 octane or going below 4 on the dial.  Looking at the dyno, you can see that the torque comes in stronger at 3500 rpm and peaks at 4000 rpm.  The gain is about 40ft/lbs from 4000 to 5500 rpm where it starts to taper off most likely from air flow.  Horsepower comes on stronger at 3500 rpm and then rockets all the way to 7000 rpm redline.  A peak gain of 50 rear wheel horsepower is at 5000 rpm.  The tuning box rating of +52 horsepower is on 98 ron tested in the UK and that would equal about 44 rear wheel horsepower with a 15% drivetrain loss.

In addition to the tuning box, GT Tuning also installed a Fabspeed high flow cat downpipe and a BMW high flow replacement air filter.  The N55 twin scroll turbocharger is greatly helped by the downpipe because of the restrictiveness of the factory unit.  However the stock catback with valves does flow well.  Adding in the high flow downpipe and BMC filter, we see how the package comes together.  Check out the dyno runs, graph, and photos below.  Order your BMW M2 Tuning Box Here.
